Ouch! That scene is so painful to watch. The way Justin's face changes from happy and hopeful to devastated during the scene kills me every time.

And I feel so bad for Brian for having to be a jerk just to make Jennifer happy.

When Brian says "Well you can't. Okay?" He says "Okay" so hesitantly…it hurts. And Justin looks like a little boy who has just found out he wasn't going to Disney World. :(

Yes, that "okay" makes it clear just how painful that is to him, having to push Justin away when he's spent all those nights watching over him at the hospital.

In talking about this scene, using a parental reference is sort of strange but…as a parent, I don't say "okay" after a sentence…because we learn that's like asking for permission…and Brian is almost asking for Justin's permission in this case. He clearly WANTED to see him…IMO.

It's obvious that it wasn't Brian's choice to push Justin away. He did what Jennifer wanted him to do, and after Jen practically blamed him for the bashing I can see that he wouldn't want to argue with her. But of course he knew deep down that pushing him away was not the best for them, they needed to be together to get a chance to talk things through and help each other. Like they later on got to do when revisiting the parking garage and dance in the loft.

It's so much fun talking about the eps! I still learn new things and discover different ways to look at the scenes by talking with other fangirls and boys :)

Yes…it was so difficult to watch, Marion. Even though she was Justin's mother and thought what she was doing was protecting him, I was so angry at Jennifer for causing Brian so much pain.

I agree. Even though I'm a mother and can understand that Jennifer thought she was doing the right thing, I was SO angry at her for causing B/J so much pain.
